OUR ROLE IN THE CHURCH & WORLD

The Foundations of Recovery - Horses in Ministry program (FoR-HiM) is, at it's core, a discipleship ministry. We reach the lost with the gospel of Christ, teach biblical recovery & leadership principles and foster healthy lifestyles and relationships by extending our hands in Jesus' love. (See John 3:16-18) Horses assist us as teachers, mentors, and partners in this Christ-led ministry. As such, we do not accept public (taxpayer) money in the form of government grants or loans to fund our programs. This is not a job for the world to do!

OUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE CHURCH AND IT'S MISSION & MINISTRY

At a fundamental level, we feel it is the responsibility of the Church to disciple the nations, not the other way around. The Church IS NOT...

  • A building. We worship in a place together, but the building is just a building. We can and must worship and serve God wherever we are, and sometimes it happens in a church building, but certainly not always.
  • A man-led organization. We believe that the term, "church leader", is a contradiciton in terms. The Church is led by none other than Jesus Christ, Himself. The Holy Spirit dwells inside ALL true believers. Together, we are the Church. Although some in the Church have God-given leadership skills and special gifts that encourage, exhort and even admonish others to follow Jesus, we are, technically speaking, ALL followers of the One True King, Jesus Christ!

Community members led by God in Christ Jesus are the Church. (See Romans 12:3-5) As Christian church groups, individuals, businesses and corporations are moved by God, they so give to this ministry. In this way, all are sufficiently provided for and abundantly blessed by God Himself!
